How Do You #RethinkOutdoor? Part 2

Your outdoor space isn’t just a space, it’s an extension of your home and is just as important as any other room in the house. In fact, there are some things that you can ONLY experience outdoors, making your outdoor living space quite unique.

With this knowledge in mind, last July we reached out to YOU to learn how you’re creating amazing experiences and lasting memories in your outdoor space. Your responses were incredible, and below, here are some of our favorite ways we’re seeing you’re transforming the outside into a true living space and how you #RethinkOutdoor.

Katie B. Fairmont, MN: Kicking back on a Saturday while the kids catch fireflies

Tell us about your outdoor space: Current POLYWOOD Furniture is on our second-story deck. We completely renovated the exterior of our home and purchased POLYWOOD furniture a few weeks before the (#rethinkoutdoor Instagram) contest. The space we want to also add POLYWOOD furniture for is our lake area that we are currently working on. We are adding a paver patio for seating with a fire pit, close to the water for day and night summer fun.

What Your Favorite Outdoor Memory? A Saturday summer night with family, fire, fireworks, good laughs, s’mores, and beverages, while watching our kids and their cousins catch fireflies.

Anita J. Vero Beach, FL: A first-row seat for dolphins and manatees

Tell us about your outdoor space: This is on our balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

What’s Your Favorite Outdoor Memory? We love sitting in our POLYWOOD chairs with our friends and with our feet up enjoying the sounds of the waves and spotting dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, and making lasting memories with our family and friends.

Laura F. Denver, CO: A Community Gathering Place

Tell us about your outdoor space: This backyard has been a significant gathering place over the last 20 years. A lot of hosting of one-on-one with people in need of telling their story, in need of being heard so they could be healed. I’ve served a lot of tea in this backyard. As community leaders, we also have hosted large groups of 100 or more for various life celebrations. Growing food and cooking for others is a passion we have and table fellowship is key to instilling hope and healing in our communities.

What’s Your Favorite Outdoor Memory? The day I found a gardener snake in my vegetables was slapstick comedy at its best. My neighbor Jill came over to assist me. We screamed and yelled so loud and long that the other neighbors thought a murder was going on. I won’t say what happened to the snake.

Amanda M. Panama City Beach, FL: Unwinding After a Long Day

Tell us about your outdoor space: My outdoor space is my own private oasis. It is a small spot where I can relax and unwind after a long day at work, eat dinner, or just relax.

What’s Your Favorite Outdoor Memory? To break in the small patio right, I had a few friends over for drinks and we had the most relaxing conversation while sitting in our outdoor furniture!

Angel B. Middletown, NY: My Summertime Place of Peace

Tell us about your outdoor space: This is my outdoor oasis and my place of peace. My backyard and pool area is a special place for my family to come together and enjoy the summertime

What’s Your Favorite Outdoor Memory? One great memory that I’ve had in this space was the graduation of my three nieces who are triplets. The space lent itself to a wonderful party. DJ and dancing, barbecue, and swimming made for a wonderful party. The graduates and their families who attended the party stayed well into the night. Great music, great food, great friends… What more could you ask for out of a backyard space?

Do you have an amazing space? We’d love to see it! Show off your outdoor oasis with a picture on Instagram using #RethinkOutdoor. Ready to build or add to your outdoor space? Check out the latest POLYWOOD Furniture and start building your dream space.
