Coffee Break with Keith Puckett

One Tuesday afternoon we set out to take a peek into the mind of our ‘New Product Development Manager’, Keith Puckett. Since I’m new to Poly-Wood and specialize in video, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to film our conversation. We discovered that Keith is not only an engineering wizard, but also a loving husband/father/grandfather and motorcycle fanatic.

When asked about the biggest challenge of his job, Keith responded with “having a fresh idea”. Being the New Product Manager, this is a challenge Keith faces daily.

Keith meets with our Co-Founder, President, & CEO, Doug Rassi, as well as Brady and Sean (from our leadership team), and Neil (from engineering) each morning at 8:30 am to discuss new product designs and ideas. During these development “scrums” many ideas are tossed around and information is exchanged.

Growing up, Keith dreamed of becoming a professional motocross racer. Even though he isn’t racing today, he does frequently take trips with his friends over the weekends. Recently he traveled to Washington state to ride the rocky terrain of mountain trails. I can only imagine what a knuckle-whitening experience that must have been.

…the freedom of riding, and being a little bit on the edge. It’s exhilarating!

Towards the end of the interview we finally brought up the subject that was clearly Keith’s favorite: his family. He has a photo of his wife prominently displayed on his desk.

we’ve been married 32 years…2 daughters, both married, and 3 granddaughters.

He can’t help but smile proudly.

Fun fact: Keith’s son-in-law, Paul (pictured above/left), works in the Poly-Wood Finance Dept.

Thanks to Keith for taking the time to talk to us!

If you have a Poly-Wood employee you’d like us to interview in the future, let us know in the comments. Until next time, enjoy your coffee breaks.
