Love the product but worst experience buying ever!

"We love our new table and it was easy to set up once we finally received it, but we had the worst experience ever trying to actually get it. The product first arrived damaged and the white glove delivery guy said “don’t take delivery”, so we didn’t Two months later, we finally received the shipment from FedEx, but install company wouldn’t come and the rest of our order appears lost (despite customer service saying it was coming up to the day of delivery) So I had to put it together myself. Was easy but incredible heavy. In the end I spent hours of my life on phone calls/emails trying to get the product, still don’t have the Adirondack chairs, and spent $500 for a white glove delivery service that never happened"

Lots of room for improvement

"The 9 piece edge dining set is really aesthetically pleasing and sturdy. Will last forever. I took 2 stars away because the 3 chairs on each side have to sit seats touching to fit between the table legs. It almost looks like benches on each side. Alternatively, you can straddle the table legs with a chair but you’d obviously be sitting with your legs straddling it as well. That’s a pretty big design fail for such an expensive set. another user posted a picture with the chairs touching and that’s the best representation of what it looks like. The table is incredibly heavy and took 4 people to move. I’d give the purchasing experience 0 stars if I could because “order by 3pm and ships by x” or “10-12 business day lead time” is just a hollow gimmick to get you to place that order. This set took over a month to ship then a crazy amount of transit time given I live less than 2 hours away from Polywood HQ where it was built and shipped from. Polywood sends really nice emails that say “if your order hasn’t shipped in 1-3 days please contact us” but when I did, they said they were behind and my Order would ship when it ships and acted like I was the AH for contacting them. The freight company left it in my front yard with no call, no text, no ringing doorbell. There’s a lot of room for improvement both in the design and in the customer service starting with don’t quote shipping times you can’t meet."

WHITE GLOVE NOT INCLUDED - FML

"Spent $6k on furniture, an astronomical amount, and the "white glove" is so easy to miss on check-out. I did. You can't add it on later and it was too late to cancel so now I'm putting together a couch, 9 person table,9 chairs, a table and end table. At the end of the day, that completely ruined my experience with Polywood, and for this "incredible" brand, it's cheapened it."

Q&A

If 8 adults are sitting, does someone have to sit with their legs split by the trestle? Also, do all the chairs push ALL the way in when not occupied? It looks from the pictures like they stick out a lot.
Thank you for reaching out with your questions—we’re happy to help. With the trestle-style base, the legs are positioned toward the center of the table to help maximize seating space. When eight adults are seated (three on each side and one at each end), guests generally do not need to sit with their legs split around the trestle. There is generally enough room on either side of the base for seating, though the exact legroom can vary slightly depending on chair placement and preference. As for the chairs, they can be pushed in under the table when not in use. Because the table has a trestle base and the chairs have arms, they may not slide completely underneath the tabletop, so it’s normal for them to extend out a bit. Best, The POLYWOOD Team

We are interested in the black EDGE 9 piece set, but are worried about how the sun will affect the temperature of the furniture. We get an incredible amount of direct sunlight in the afternoon, will we have trouble with the furniture being too hot to sit on?
Hi Caitlin, Thank you for your inquiry! Like all other materials left out in direct sunlight for long periods, HDPE (high-density polyethylene) may become too hot to use. We recommend using cushions on the chairs, or using an umbrella to keep your furniture in the shade. You can cover the furniture when not in use, which will also protect it from debris and critters. While we do not supply covers, we partner with thecoverstore.com as they have a wide selection of covers to fit POLYWOOD products.
