Adirondack Features

Why are they called Adirondacks?

This iconic design is named after the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, where Thomas Lee invented it in 1903. The original used several flat wooden boards and featured a straight back, deeply slanted seat, and wide armrests. POLYWOOD offers dozens of new iterations that honor the original design but expand the options of silhouettes, sizes, and comfort features. From our classic styles to the Modern Adirondack Chair, we create durable, all-weather seating for everyone.
