Yes, our light-stable pigments, along with UV inhibitors and stabilizers, run continuously throughout the material and protect our lumber from harmful environmental degradation. No painting or waterproofing is required!
The weight of each chair varies based on the size and shape, but they average between 30 and 50 pounds each. All POLYWOOD furniture is built to withstand the harshest weather—each piece can be easily moved by one or two people. Yet it's heavy-duty and durable enough so you won't have to worry about your furniture blowing away in strong winds.
Each product is run through a variety of tests to comply with ASTM standards. POLYWOOD chairs are weight tested up to 300 pounds per seat, although many products can withstand much more.
All of our HDPE lumbers offer excellent moisture resistance. POLYWOOD Select™ lumbers feature a highly compact microscopic structure thanks to Microcell™ technology, resulting in a less porous surface with superior moisture impermeability and extra-easy cleanability.
All genuine POLYWOOD lumbers feature ColorStay™ technology, or UV-inhibiting compounds that are fully integrated throughout the material to lock in lasting color and fade resistance.
The colors of POLYWOOD lumber run continuously throughout the material, so no painting is required. However, we do not recommend painting your furniture, as this will void the warranty.
POLYWOOD lumber should not be sanded as it will scratch the material's surface and void the warranty.
Yes, our ClimateTuff™ materials are extensively tested to the extremes, guaranteeing peak performance in a range of weather conditions—including hot sun, rain storms, snowy winters, salt spray, and heavy winds. (If you prefer covers to make seasonal cleaning easier and extend your furniture’s lifespan, we recommend the Coverstore.)
Yes, a high-pressure power washer (not to exceed 1,500 psi) can be used to deep clean POLYWOOD furniture. If you don’t have a power washer, POLYWOOD lumber is very low maintenance and easy to clean with soap, water, and a soft-bristle brush. Learn more about our Care & Maintenance Tips.

You can use our furniture on the tanning ledge of your pool. However, we suggest taking it out of salt water or chemically treated water and rinsing the lumber and hardware with fresh water as soon as you're finished using it.
It is! To clean and sanitize your furniture, mix mild dish soap, a little bleach, and warm water in a bucket. Apply the solution to the lumber and let it soak for a few minutes, then scrub all surfaces with a soft-bristle brush. Finish up with a quick rinse from your garden hose and let your furniture air-dry.
If you're seeking a natural alternative to bleach, try undistilled white vinegar. For more cleaning tips, visit our Care & Maintenance page.
Yes. Once your furniture is assembled, peel the plastic film off all POLYWOOD medallions. The film protects the medallion during transit and assembly but should be removed afterward. Otherwise, UV exposure will cause the film to degrade, which can prematurely age the metal medallion beneath it.
