Reviews

Instructions were unclear and incorrect,

"Instructions were unclear and incorrect, the RH rocker connects to the LH arm, and vice versa, contrary to the assembly manual. Also, the engraving for the RH and LH on the arms is visible when the chairs are assembled, a removable sticker or something less permanent would have been better, especially since the engravings were incorrect. Overall comfortable and nice looking but could use refinement."

I haven't been able to

"I haven't been able to fully assemble my rockers yet, as one is missing the screw holes at a few points, and of the holes do not line up. I attempted to use the hardware that came with the chairs and a power drill, but I think I need to get some different screws to make the pre-drilled holes work, and also create the holes that did not get drilled during manufacturing. I'm confident that I can make them work, however I was looking forward to easy assembly so I could put my new chairs on my front porch right away."

Rocking Out

"Love my new chairs. Great quality."

Teri N. (5/5)

We already owned two of

"We already owned two of these chairs worh a table and wanted two more so we placed an order. The quality of fhe kit kas gone down. Arms are nor flush and there is a noticeable bounce when you rest your arms as they flex. Also, the pre asswmbled pieces had screws missing and loose in the box and there is even a screw that wont grab and just is sitting in the back. Overall, disappointing for such expensive putdoor furniture whwn the other chairs were built considerably better."

Bad customer service, shoddy quality

"Step 2 apparently I’m somehow supposed to screw the upright into a non existing hole? Called multiple times, no one answers. Sent email, no one answers."

"Easy to order, delivery was done well and assembly easy. Look great on our front porch in SouthWest Florida."

David M. (5/5)

Quality issues

"I ordered two rockers which were great, so I ordered another two for my porch. The two rockers in the 2nd order had quality issues which resulted in me re-drilling multiple holes to assemble. I submitted a warranty claim online 2 weeks ago but never heard back from Polywood. I will not buy furniture for my other house from Polywood in the future"

Excellent rockers

"We love our rockers. Very comfortable, sturdy, and roomy. Easy to assemble, but best done with two people. No missing hardware and easy to read instructions. We ordered the cushions, which are great for long sits. So pleased with this purchase. Wish I had room for more!"

Q&A

I am considering purchase of this rocker... But am quite concerned about the many numerous comments for misaligned holes and hardware problems during the assembly. Why is this ongoing concern and problem a continued issue?
Hi William, That's a great question! We strive to provide ready-to-assemble products and are constantly working to ensure our manufacturing processes provide consistent quality. The comments you read regarding misaligned holes or missing hardware are minuscule compared to our order volume, and we work very hard to make sure our customer are taken care of if they do have any assembly challenges or missing parts. Because HDPE is inherently flexible it's fairly easy to move parts into the correct position for hole alignment, but some of our customers are afraid to force the parts into alignment for fear of damaging the furniture and they find out after speaking to a Product Specialist the holes do line up, but it takes some elbow grease. I hope this helps you with your decision making process. Thanks, Lana
Do these rockers fold up?
Hi Veleda, thanks for your question! The Modern Adirondack Rocker is not foldable. We don't have any folding rocking chairs in our product line. Thanks, Lana
What is the measurement from the top of the seat to the top of the back?
Hello Maria, Thank you for reaching out about our Modern Adirondack Rocker. The measurement of the back (seat to top of back) is 28 15/16" I hope this helps with your decision making process. Best wishes, Heather
I am confused by the answers to the questions below regarding the difference between the Modern Adirondack Rocker and the Modern Adirondack Rocking Chair. As per below, the Modern Rocker has a "taller back" but only a seat back height (hip to top) of 29." According to the questions & answers for the Modern Adirondack Rocking Chair (which is supposedly shorter), that chair has a seat back height of approximately 30". Is it true that the larger, more expensive chair actually has a shorter back height? Thanks!
Hello Maria, Thank you for reaching out, I am sorry about any confusion, the answer of 30" is incorect and I have removed it from our website. Our ADR420 Modern Adirondack Rocking Chair is the smaller of the two chairs with a total height of only 32.5" with the total height of our MNR10 Modern Adirondack Rocker is 38" it also has a higher seat at 17" as well as having a curved back. Best wishes, Heather
What is the weight capacity/limit for The Modern Adirondack Rocker - MNR10?
Hello Patricia, Thank you for reaching out about our Modern Adirondack Rocker - MNR10. This rocker like each product is run through a variety of tests to comply with ASTM standards. POLYWOOD chairs are weight tested up to 400lbs, although many products can withstand much more. Best wishes, Heather
Can you please make these in the Vintage Coffee. Thank you!
Hello Chris, Thank you for reaching out! I'm pleased to say we do make a Modern Adirondack Rocking Chair in Vintage Finish. It looks a little different but has many similarities to the Modern Adirondack Rocker. I have provided a link for you here: https://www.polywood.com/modern-adirondack-rocking-chairin-vintage-finish-adr420v.html I hope this helps! Sharon
Does the black rocker get hot if sitting in the sun? I am debating between black and grey.
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! The darker colors (Black, Mahogany, Teak) will retain more heat in the sun than the lighter ones (White, Sand, Slate Grey) but generally speaking the furniture will absorb some of the heat from the sun, but it should never be too hot to the touch to use. You may notice changes to the furniture (shape, flexibility, etc.) during the heat of the day but the items will revert back to their normal state in the evening once it cools off a bit. All the best, Kaitlyn
Does the modern not come in a set like the quattro? I want to purchase two and the table in a bundle.
Hello Steve, that is a good question. We are very happy to hear that you are excited to order some Polywood, but this has not been deemed a set item by our teams. You would be able to order all of the pieces you like separately to create your desired set that way. Thank you very much for your question, and please reach out to us if you have any further questions or concerns. Best wishes, Collin.
is there a way to get a sample of the colors for the modern adirondack rocking chairs? I am between the mahogany, black, teak, or white chairs.
Hello Ayleen, that is a great question. We do offer samples on our website to order. You can find it at https://www.polywood.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Color+samples. Thank you for reaching out with your question, and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. Best wishes, Collin.
How wide should the space be to accomodate the modern Adirondack rocker? I have a narrow deck.
Hello there, this is a great question. For the Modern Adirondack Rocker the specification are as follows, height: 38", width: 29.75", Depth: 33.25". These are the dimensions of the chair and we also recommend giving a 12" clearance for the rocking motion. Thank you for your question; I hope this response is helpful. Best wishes, Collin
Can anyone tell me the measurement for the back itself? From hip to top of chair? Thanks! (This is for the Modern Adirondack Rocker, with the slightly curved back.)
Hello there, that is a great question. The back of this chair (from hip to the top) is roughly 29". I hope this answers your question. Best wishes, Collin
Is this product not offered in the vintage finish? :(
Hi Meghan, No, unfortunately this rocking chair is not offered in our vintage finish as of yet. There are, however, other pieces that are offered in our vintage finish that you may enjoy. Here is the link to our product page that contains all of the pieces of outdoor furniture that we offer in our vintage finish. https://www.polywood.com/new-and-featured/vintage-finish-products.html?&sp=2 Thanks! What is the difference between the rocker for $389 and $289?
Hi Mike, MNR10 has a curved back, and a taller back than ADR420, which has a straight back. Thanks for asking such a great question! Karen
