Furnish Your Outdoor Space: Waterfront

Choosing outdoor furniture is an investment, so how do you make sure it complements your home’s exterior for the long haul?

At POLYWOOD, we offer an array of durable furniture in classic colors that will never go out of style. You can easily add some personality with colorful throw pillows and accent pieces — and then change them out when you need an update. But, it’s not as practical to swap out furniture as your design style changes over time.

Here’s our guide to choosing styles and colors of POLYWOOD furniture that will fit right in with your nautical or coastal home’s facade now (and 20 years from now).

Best Furniture for Your Waterfront Space

If your home is near the water, there’s a number of collections that will fit, but for this post we’re going to look at our Vineyard Adirondack Collection. The subtle curves and laid-back angles of each chair design lend to that classic “I’m relaxing on the beach” look.

Whether you’re just looking for a few all-weather Adirondacks or you’re hoping to outfit your patio with a variety of pieces, the Vineyard Collection offers the following furniture options:

Adirondack Chair

The Vineyard Curveback Adirondack Chair is a more spacious version of our Vineyard Adirondack and features curved back slats and a waterfall front for added comfort.

Rocking Chair

Enjoy relaxing in the Vineyard Adirondack Rocking Chair which, just like the matching Adirondack chair, is complete with a comfortably contoured seat and waterfall front.

Dining

The Vineyard Adirondack Dining Chair will create a laid-back dining experience — the perfect complement to any beach house. Just like the Adirondack Chair, it features a spacious seat with curved back slats and a waterfall front for added comfort.

For a sleek, modern look we recommend pairing this chair with our Nautical Trestle 38″ x 73″ Dining Table which provides a classic and coordinating style.

The Nautical dining table is available in multiple sizes and shapes to seat anywhere from four to eight guests.

Bar

If you have a built-in outdoor bar, our Vineyard Adirondack Bar Chairs are the perfect fit. They also pair with our Nautical Trestle 48″ Round Bar Table to comfortably seat four.

Just like our dining height, we also offer our Nautical table in eight bar-height sizes and six counter-height sizes:

Adirondack Bench

We love the idea of placing this coordinating bench around a fire pit with a few Adirondack chairs for an eclectic beach look. Or, add this bench to the porch or patio, overlooking the water. The Vineyard Adirondack Bench seats two and just like the Adirondack Chair, it features a waterfall front — super comfortable on the backs of your knees!

Accessory Tables

If you’re thinking of purchasing a pair of Vineyard Adirondacks, we recommend completing your set with our 18″ Round Side Table. Looking for a larger set? You can also pair four Adirondack chairs with our Round 38″ Conversation Table.

Choosing Lumber & Accessory Colors

Our White and Sand lumber pairs perfectly with the cool blue siding and light/warm stone of this beach house, while popping against the darker stained concrete patio. If you’re choosing several furniture sets for your waterfront home, don’t feel you need everything to be in the exact same lumber color.

For a vibrant option in this space, we chose a Vineyard 3-Piece Adirondack Set in Tangerine (Aruba would also look great).

For pillows we chose Cast Ash, a nice warm gray, similar to the stone of the home, to pair with our white Adirondack chairs. Spa paired perfectly with our Tangerine Adirondacks, and Navy would also complement this space.  For our Adirondack chairs we recommend 16″ Pillows — they’re just the right size proportionally to the chair.

If you’re looking for more flashy accent colors, we’d recommend rich magenta or soft purples — both can be seen in the floral landscaping.

Additional Waterfront Combos

Below are a few examples of other waterfront homes paired with our picks of coordinating POLYWOOD lumber.

House #1

What’s cheerier than a pink beach house? If your waterfront home is a fun color, white is always a great go-to so the home’s exterior steals the show. But, we also love the idea of complementing this house with our Aruba lumber. For a more traditional look, this pink house would also look great with Teak.

House #2

With rich, dusty blues, cool stone, and warm wood elements we envision pairing this home exterior with our Teak, Black, and/or Lime lumber colors.

House #3

This light and airy stucco exterior would pair well with our Mahogany or Slate Grey lumber. For a bold splash of color we’d recommend our Pacific Blue, but used sparingly (maybe a colorful Adirondack set).
