Hi Tamara, Thanks for reaching out! We've tested this chair to bear a static load up to 400 lbs. Most of our furniture does require assembly; this chair included. You can access the assembly instructions from the page for the chair. Just scroll down past the dimensional drawings and right under those, you should see a heading for "additional info".
