FAQs

What’s POLYWOOD furniture made from? 

POLYWOOD outdoor furniture is made from sustainable materials, including landfill- and ocean-bound high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics. We believe HDPE is the best material for outdoor seating because it’s fade-proof, weather-resistant, and easy to clean. All fasteners and most hanging hardware are marine-grade quality stainless steel. 

How do I care for my POLYWOOD porch swing?

Unlike wooden swings or resin designs, genuine POLYWOOD lumber doesn’t require much maintenance, even if it’s left outside year-round. To keep your furniture looking its very best, you just need soap, water, and a soft-bristle brush. For deeper stains and mildew, use a solution of ⅓ bleach and ⅔ water and give it a good scrub with your soft-bristle brush. Spray your swing off with a garden hose and let it air dry.  

What’s the difference between a swing and a glider?

Gliders are freestanding seats that move gently back and forth on a fixed frame, while swings are suspended by ropes or chains from a supportive structure. Since a glider doesn’t need to be installed to any specific architectural feature, it’s a great choice for your open garden or patio.

Do all POLYWOOD outdoor swings come with cushions?

Some POLYWOOD swings are designed with lofty, removable cushions, while others can be paired with seat cushions and throw pillows (sold separately). All of our cushions are tailored with performance fabrics and are available in a variety of colors.
