Behind the Collaboration: A Moment With Martha Stewart

We asked, Martha answered. Get a glimpse into the story behind the Martha Stewart by POLYWOOD Collection, plus style and entertaining suggestions from America’s favorite lifestyle expert.

POLYWOOD: How does the Martha Stewart by POLYWOOD partnership reflect your lifestyle brand?

Martha: For over 30 years, it’s been our intention to inspire homeowners with unique, high-quality products that are beautifully designed and American-made. POLYWOOD outdoor furniture is all of the above. The company has earned a reputation of excellence since its inception in 1990, using sustainable materials and production practices at its Indiana and North Carolina facilities. I have personally enjoyed POLYWOOD pieces in my outdoor spaces—including the new Chinoiserie 48” Bench in my favorite color, Sand.

Martha: The goal was to help elevate the outdoor living experiences of those seeking high-quality products and style inspiration. The Martha Stewart by POLYWOOD Collection is the result of our shared dedication to superior function, comfort, and timeless design.

POLYWOOD: Beyond this collection, what’s one of your favorite ways to style an outdoor living space?

Martha: Outdoor living spaces are so important because they let us enjoy the beauty of nature from the comfort of our homes. You can pull your surrounding landscaping into lounge and dining areas with smaller details like garden planters and potted herbs. Decorative window boxes, hanging plants, or vines supported by a trellis are great options if you have limited square footage, small children, or pets.

POLYWOOD: Any tips for seasonal refreshes?

Martha: To refresh your outdoors for the changing seasons, a few well-placed accessories is really all you need. Less is often more—throw pillows can add dimension or bring in the right amount of added color. I also love to use accent tables to show off lanterns, plants, and other seasonal decor.

POLYWOOD: Do you have any advice for enjoying the outdoors in cooler weather?

Martha: Don’t let winter keep you indoors! It has never been easier to add a cozy fire feature to your outdoor space, even if you have a small patio or deck. When temperatures drop, you can gather with friends and family around the warm flames, making s’mores or enjoying a cozy beverage. And of course, throw blankets should be within reach year-round.
