Set in rural Indiana, about 45 minutes away from our headquarters, sits a charming home with sweeping countryside views. Our customers moved there over 30 years ago, and as their family grew, so did the house. See how we helped outfit their latest addition—a wraparound porch with a gazebo—using POLYWOOD furniture and rustic accents.
The Challenge
The homeowners wanted to create a gathering place where the whole family can come together on Sunday afternoons. Furnishings needed to fit the rustic theme they already had going, and they needed to be able to handle the hot summers and frigid winters Indiana experienced annually.
The Furniture & Decor
Follow along to learn how we brought this look to life.
Rustic Rocking Chairs
The homeowners had existing black furniture, so our team chose Jefferson Woven Rockers in the same shade. Using neutral tones offers flexibility as they fit a variety of color schemes and styles—a bonus for the homeowners if they decide to change up the look down the road.
Woven seats and backs add to the rocking chairs' rusticity, while the low-maintenance frames boast all-weather durability. Indiana experiences all four seasons, so it’s wise to use furniture that can withstand blizzards, thunderstorms, direct sunlight, humidity, and other weather conditions.
Additional Accessories
To ensure a quaint farmhouse feel, we chose woven baskets, quilts, and galvanized pots with fluffy ferns. We propped a pair of seafoam blue accent pillows on the rockers to ensure a good color balance and tied on tan seat cushions to ground the look in a mid-tone shade.
A two-shelf side table and area rug brought more dimension and function to the space. There was also a great mix of textures with galvanized metal accents, wooden crates, and woven details. The overall color palette was neutral, warm, and earthy.

The Final Look
We successfully styled a cozy, serene setting where the homeowners could rock their grandchildren to sleep or take in the villatic views on quiet evenings.
The finishing touch that truly brought everything together was the homeowner's dog, Kobi, who eagerly agreed to be our model for the day.
Recreate the Look
You can bring a farmhouse-inspired front porch motif to your home with these easy tips:
- Rocking chairs are front porch staples, but feel free to try other seating, such as Adirondack chairs, swings, or benches.
- Accent tables offer extra serving space and more opportunities to bring in color and dimension.
- Select seat cushions and throw pillows in complementary colors.
- Invite Mother Nature in with potted herbs, ferns, or seasonal blooms.
- Distressed wooden trays or platters add rustic touches and convenient ways to carry drinks and snacks.
